I don't know exactly when the practice started, but human beings have been jumping in piles of leaves for a very long time. Leaves tend to fall all over the backyard when the weather turns cold and it can be a real pain raking them all up.

The nice thing, though, is that there is a nice reward at the end of all of the hard work. This is a great way for you to teach your kids responsibility with a good bit of fun at the end.
