Back in the day, it was customary for a man to pay for a date! Nowadays, there are a lot of gray areas.
Some say men should still pay for a date, while others believe splitting the bill is better. Well, this woman was invoiced after her unsuccessful date, and now the internet is talking!
Fiona's Unsuccessful Date
Fiona posted a video on TikTok showing an invoice she received from a guy she had a date with.
And why was he invoicing her? Because the date was "unsuccessful."
Fiona Didn't Have A Romantic Connection
In the video, Fiona says, "I told him I didn't have a romantic connection with him, over [a] message, politely. And this was his response!"
And it doesn't seem like this invoice is a joke because this guy wants his money "ASAP."
She Offered To Pay
In her video, Fiona explains, "I didn't fancy him, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt."
She continued, "He said he would pay; I said no, but he was adamant, so I let him pay because I'm not going to beg to pay."
Is Fiona A Commodity?
Even though he thought the date was going well, Fiona did not enjoy it.
Fiona said, "I don't feel like I'm a commodity, and if I don't give in, then I should pay him back?"
Sure It Can Be Frustrating
"The cheek of him," She says.
She continues, "I understand if you go on lots of dates and you pay for everything and you don't get what you want - which was obviously intercourse for him - it can be frustrating."
"It's The Principle"
According to Fiona, the guy told her, "It's not a matter of money; it's the principle."
Fiona is frustrated and says, "29 Pounds ($31)? Come on, man, give me a break."
"Would You Do This?"
Fiona is flabbergasted and finishes her video by saying, "Would you do this? I mean, I just can't believe it."
And Fiona pinned a comment saying that she did offer to pay for her food, but he refused.
"Be The Guy Who Splits The Bill"
Fiona said, "Don't offer to pay then."
"Be that guy who wants to split the bill. That's fine. And suck it up if you do pay even though the girl offered."
Did He Waste Her Time?
Many on TikTok laughed and couldn't believe what they were seeing!
They took Fiona's side, and many of the comments read along the lines of, "what about paying her for wasting her time?"
Or Was He In The Right?
Meanwhile, other TikTokers liked the idea of invoicing someone for an unsuccessful date and were taking the guy's side!
Some comments read, "if you didn't feel a romantic connection, why would you make him pay?"
