It’s really tempting to add chest padding, toys, and other accessories to your child’s car seat because you think it will make them more comfortable or distract them during a long drive.

In reality, a car seat is tested “as is” for crash performance. Adding additional items can drastically reduce the car seat’s performance and lead to injury and even death.
