‘Irresponsible’ Wife Puts Makeup On Toddler Causing An Allergic Reaction

When making decisions about a child, most parents would agree that they need to consult their spouse or partner before doing anything big. That's the whole point of having a partner; you're not the only one making the big decisions.

Sometimes, though, even if you come to a decision about your child, your spouse might not always choose to respect that. One dad learned that lesson the hard way.

One man on Reddit decided to share a story about a recent incident that had happened in their house.

He and his wife have a 2-year-old daughter that he calls "Z" in his post. His wife, who's 25, apparently loves cosmetics. She's looking to be a makeup artist and is always looking to practice her skills.

Recently, his wife has been wanting to practice her makeup skills on Z, which dad says he was "cautious" about.

He agreed that it would be okay "as long as it wasn't a full face nor could she do it every day." Mom agreed to his terms.

The next day, dad heard Z "whimpering" in her room, so he went to check on her and saw that something was wrong.

"She had a really bad rash and blistering on her face, her left eye was swollen, her skin was very irritated, and she kept scratching making it more irritated."

Dad rushed to the doctor's office with Z, to find out that she had "contact dermatitis."

After they got home from the doctor's office, his wife returned and was talking about how excited she was to do another makeover on her daughter because she bought new products.

Asking What The Heck Happened

Understandably, dad was far more concerned about what happened with his daughter than about his wife's cosmetic purchases.

When he asked his wife what she put on Z's face, she admitted that it was a full face of makeup "and that they even went out to the park so others could see her talent."

The husband writes that he called his wife "crazy and irresponsible" because his wife went against what they had agreed on.

He was more upset about the severe reaction their daughter had to deal with, though.

Wanting To Share Her Passion

In her defense, his wife argued that "she was only trying to make her look pretty."

She also apparently said she wanted Z to have a passion for makeup like her mother, but "since she doesn't even pay attention to it" she thought this would help. Shocking that a toddler doesn't pay attention to their mother's hobby, right?

What he really wanted to know from posting on Reddit is whether or not he was in the wrong for calling his wife irresponsible, because she certainly thinks he is.

He got an answer—and it's not one his wife will enjoy.

Over a thousand people came to comment on the situation, and the general consensus was that the blame is completely on mom for this one.

Another user on Reddit, graceandgracen, commented that "your daughter is not a doll. Calling your wife irresponsible is an insult to irresponsible people."

Everyone seemed to agree that a toddler should not be exposed to a full face of makeup—because that's the logical answer here.
