Mom Is Embarrassed Over Her Husband’s Reaction To Their Baby’s Gender Reveal

While most parents are happy with either or, this dad was particularly disappointed when the ultrasound didn't give him the boy he wanted. In fact, he had no problem making his feelings clear to the point of embarrassing his wife.
It Was Their First Pregnancy
Reddit user Aita356711_____ turned to the platform to ask if she was wrong for being upset about her husband's reaction. The 29-year-old mom was married to her 33-year-old husband for two years. This was her first pregnancy.
The pregnancy already felt difficult for her. She even had anemia and was being treated.
The Dad Was Nervous And Expecting A Boy
When it was time for the doctor's appointment that would reveal their baby's gender, the dad repeatedly guaranteed that they would have a boy. Even with no evidence behind it.
He was so nervous going to the office, and that he was making his wife nervous too.
It Actually Was A Girl
Once inside, the doctor revealed that the couple was having a girl.
"My husband's face went red. He stared at the doctor then started asking if she was sure 15 times. He asked if she was sure this wasn't a 'recording' footage of her previous patient which made me feel embarrassed because this was a dumb question."
The Dad Told The Doctor She Got It Wrong
The doctor laughed off the husband's comments. Despite having no knowledge of how ultrasounds work, the husband insisted that they check again.
He went as far as to point out that it's a boy and that she had actually gotten it wrong.
The Dad Lashed Out
"I told him to stop but he started lashing out blatantly saying he wasn't expecting this and was in fact disappointed with the results."
The wife was feeling embarrassed but her husband wouldn't stop. Her husband threatened to see another doctor instead, insisting that he guaranteed that it was a boy.
The Wife Expressed Her Embarrassment
The wife waited until they were home to speak her mind. She angrily told him that he wasted the doctor's time by making her check over her results, and highlighted that he shouldn't have spoken to her like that.
"I said he embarrassed me and he lashed back saying he has a right to express how he felt and that he was disappointed."
Her Husband Told His Mom On Her
The conversation led to an argument. The husband then decided to call his mom to vent.
This meant that he also revealed the gender to the mom even though the wife had asked for them to do it together.
She Decided To Pack Her Bags For Two Days
The husband even got his mom to text the wife to blame her. The wife thought this behavior was childish and felt overwhelmed. She decided to pack her bags to take some space at her mom's.
"He asked 'How's it childish for me to call my mom and vent a little. But totally okay when you pack to go stay with your mom for 2 days?' I was speechless."
The Dad Still Hopes It'll Be A Boy
While the wife was away, her husband texted her that he thought the ultrasound was a bad idea. He decided that tests can't be sure so he'll wait to find out the gender at birth.
He still believes it's a boy. Although he wouldn't blame his wife if it's a girl, he will be disappointed as he only wants one kid in his lifetime and wants it to be a boy.
The Mom Was Accused Of Controlling His Reaction
The husband still felt that his wife was in the wrong for being embarrassed by his overreaction.
Her sister also agreed that she was in the wrong. The sister felt that the dad's reaction was understandable and he was free to express it. She said that she shouldn't try to control his reaction.
Others Think His Reaction Was Sexist And Worry For His Daughter
The people of the internet find the dad's reaction as completely sexist. He shouldn't be disappointed for having a girl over a boy, as it's still his child. One even comments: "your child being a daughter instead of a son is because his sperm gave the X chromosome, not Y. He could use an 8th-grade biology lesson too."
They hope he'll respond differently when she's actually born so she doesn't feel resented.

The wife blames her husband's argumentative personality which encourages him to make a big deal out of everything.
"He told me the problem was that I shouldn't try to control how he reacts and that he has the right to express his feeling and I'm not against that. But I think he's being unbearable with this behavior. " It seems as though most would agree.
